Car Accessories in Italy – 6th Edition (2025)

Which accessories are the most purchased today and through which channels?

How does accessory adoption vary by region, age group, or vehicle type?

What role do OEMs, workshops, and online platforms play in influencing decisions?

Accessories today are no longer a marginal choice, they reflect how drivers live, travel, and personalize their vehicles. Whether it’s a dash cam, parking sensor, infotainment upgrade, or a new phone holder, accessories are part of the everyday driving experience.

In fact, according to GiPA’s latest data, 58% of Italian drivers in 2024 reported purchasing at least one accessory in the previous 18 months. This number confirms that accessories are no longer a niche product category, but a mainstream habit and a valuable aftermarket opportunity.

For this reason, GiPA Italy launched the 6th edition of GiPA’s multi-client study on car accessories, which explores how and why Italian drivers equip their vehicles. The study is based on a robust sample of 4,000 drivers, selected using GiPA’s proven methodology.

The study focuses on six key families of accessories, including:

  • Comfort and protection
  • Safety
  • Infotainment and connectivity
  • Design and personalization

The accessory market is also a space for innovation. As EVs and hybrids rise in share, the demand for new types of accessories is growing, especially those linked to energy management, connectivity, and in-car entertainment.

The results of this study will be available to subscribers starting in November 2025, with the possibility to access detailed cross-tabulated data and participate in a strategic workshop to discuss the findings.

  1. The Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) market in Italy

How many light commercial vehicles are currently circulating?

What are their main technical characteristics?

What is the average maintenance cost per year and which components weigh the most?

How is the rise of long-term rental (NLT) influencing the service landscape?

The LCV sector is often overlooked in traditional aftermarket analyses yet it represents a critical share of service, parts and fleet activity. With the increasing adoption of long-term rental (NLT) and growing demands for professional mobility, a data-driven understanding of this segment is essential.

GiPA Italy is launching a dedicated LCV study to offer a clear picture of the circulating fleet and its evolution.

The numbers speak for themselves: almost 7 million LCVs have been registered in Italy since 1985, and today, over 44% of the current fleet was registered before 2014. These are vehicles that work hard, age fast, and require consistent and high-quality maintenance.

With NLT growing by more than 20% in the last three years, new forms of vehicle ownership are changing how, where, and when service is delivered. This has implications for workshops, parts distributors, rental providers, and manufacturers.

Understanding the service needs and behaviors of this professional fleet will allow players across the value chain to:

  • Align product offerings with real usage patterns
  • Prepare for future technical demands, including electrification
  • Build loyalty and trust with professional customers who depend on vehicle uptime

Both studies reflect GiPA’s mission: to provide actionable data and reliable foresight in a market where change is constant. By focusing on real users and real vehicles, we give our clients the tools to make informed decisions: whether it’s launching a new product, expanding a service network, or adapting communication strategies.
